Hanging Things on our Walls


February has been a good month to decorate boring walls. The bathroom known as "Pete's" needed a curtain; so a questionable curtain was created using a fabric remnant & pheasant tail feathers.


Next a little ambiance was added to the dining room with a couple of candle holding sconces. Notice the romantic glow... look close. ( I asked Pete how to spell ambiance and he said "n-i-c-e", I thought that was funny)


 
                                                      

In the bedroom we added some pictures. Holly did the drawing and Pete picked out the framing. Another team effort rewarded with ice cream. Yeah!!!!




                                                     

When we ran out things to put on our walls, we framed this picture, (which Holly drew), of "Chester" and sent it over to our neighbor, Peggy, for her to put on her wall. {Pete is secretly tricking Holly into completing a new art work each week, then he plans on opening an online art gallery where he can pawn them off. This is his new retirement plan}. 



 Tune in next week as Holly attempts to purchase artwork online, (an original pastel from a complete stranger), from the the UK. You'll get to see her convert Canadian dollars to American Dollars, then to euros, overpay on the shipping, and then try to get a refund. And, Yes, it will be one more thing to hang on a wall.
 We also are going to start a new feature called, "Landmark Video's". So don't miss that. 


We're all looking forward to the end of winter.

First we had to put all of this....... Into this moving van. The loading of the moving van went pretty well. We were delayed a bit the next morning with finishing up, but not too badly. Our first major destination was Sheffield Iowa to visit the farm and town where Holly's father grew up. Downtown Sheffield, where "Frankie" was the terror of the town. This is the farm house and one of the barns of the famous family farm. The family that now lives and farms the place were super friendly and invited us in for the evening. We enjoyed a great conversation over chocolate cake with red rasberry sauce made from berries grown on the farm. MMM Delicious. The town was surrounded by corn fields, in fact the whole state was surrounded by corn fields. Many a small child has been lost in these fields. 2/15 - 3/7/2010

Howdie Ya'll, It has been a busy few weeks with wet, foggy, sleeting weather to boot. We are both excited because we have decided to relocate to North Dakota, (yes, we know how cold it can get). Pete has 5 months work already scheduled and there is a carpenter / Contractor shortage in that area due to the recent oil boom and resulting housing shortage. CA home building hit the wall about two years ago with no resurgence in sight so we figure we will make a go of it there and see what God has planned for us. We put our house on the "For Sale" block and have been moving at lightning speed to have it ready for showing. So far 2 buyers have been through. We also have been working on the Bailey Meadows Cabin to prepare it for sale. We have FINALLY completed sanding the floors and sealing them, (Pix will be on next post), and painting, replacing doors, completing siding, etc, etc, etc... North Dakota news...

As most of you know we have moved to Williston, North Dakota. We departed CA on May 27th, after a few mishaps with the towing arrangement. This was our covered wagon train. We spent the first evening in the desert, just north of Las Vegas. We enjoy desert camping and this would be our last chance to experience the desert until ??? Three more days of cross country travel brought us into ND on May 30th. We are currently staying with the Sime family; Leon & Laurali, Jenna, Kaelyn & Lacy. Pete is going to be building them a new home on their existing 28 acre, rural property. We unloaded our "stuffed" moving truck, (we still left a lot of items behind in CA), and the next day headed to Grand Forks, ND, (nearest dropoff location, 5.5 hrs to the east), and spent the night at the "C'mon Inn", (see above photo).
