NO, you are not seeing things, this IS an actual UPDATE! Let us start with NOVEMBER, Thanksgiving in AZ. In a nut shell we traveled with two dogs to the parent's house in AZ. NAN-NA and PAP-PA (as Pete likes to refer to the dogs grandparents.....much to the horror of my parents- who do not believe animals are children. Don't tell Boo-Boo who is very fond of Nan-na and Pap-pa).We ate, played on the pond with the neices, went camping, ate, and had lots of fun.
Go Holly! Good job! By the way, the Brittany Spaniel looks just like my dog "Pete" I had in high school. ANd then I married a Pete - and so did you. Weird, huh!
First we had to put all of this....... Into this moving van. The loading of the moving van went pretty well. We were delayed a bit the next morning with finishing up, but not too badly. Our first major destination was Sheffield Iowa to visit the farm and town where Holly's father grew up. Downtown Sheffield, where "Frankie" was the terror of the town. This is the farm house and one of the barns of the famous family farm. The family that now lives and farms the place were super friendly and invited us in for the evening. We enjoyed a great conversation over chocolate cake with red rasberry sauce made from berries grown on the farm. MMM Delicious. The town was surrounded by corn fields, in fact the whole state was surrounded by corn fields. Many a small child has been lost in these fields. They eventually are found, and the only damage done is they suffer from a desire to tell really corny jokes the rest of their lives. I am clearly a decendant of a child lost in co...
Howdie Ya'll, It has been a busy few weeks with wet, foggy, sleeting weather to boot. We are both excited because we have decided to relocate to North Dakota, (yes, we know how cold it can get). Pete has 5 months work already scheduled and there is a carpenter / Contractor shortage in that area due to the recent oil boom and resulting housing shortage. CA home building hit the wall about two years ago with no resurgence in sight so we figure we will make a go of it there and see what God has planned for us. We put our house on the "For Sale" block and have been moving at lightning speed to have it ready for showing. So far 2 buyers have been through. We also have been working on the Bailey Meadows Cabin to prepare it for sale. We have FINALLY completed sanding the floors and sealing them, (Pix will be on next post), and painting, replacing doors, completing siding, etc, etc, etc... Now we are deciding what to sell, give away, or take with us as we plan to load up the...
We are settling into our new home. Things are beginning to feel very homey. The last couple of weeks we have been working pretty long hours, and that is our excuse for neglecting the blog. Poor little neglected blog. This is the river that runs through Guelph. We don't know the name of it yet, but maybe you can be the one to name it. One of the first community activities we participated in was...... a ribfest! Of Course. The ribs were quite delicious. This lady got in an argument with one of the pigs at the ribfest over the quality of her dinner. The pig refused to be baited into a debate. This car was on display at the ribfest. It is just like the chick magnet Pete drove in highschool. Pete, the hunter, has camouflaged himself has a pole in order to sneak up on these wiley birds, the one species of bird he has yet to bag; he is so close. A rose from our back yard, and our backyard on a fall day. The trees are starting to turn to bright colors, and I am sure t...
